Bowls Deep on Zynfadels Matchup by Jason Wilkins

Wednesday night will give us the long awaited matchup between Bowls Deep and The Zynfadels; a matchup the league has been starving for. Yes, Bowls Deep is missing their fearless and handsome General. Sad, but the international superstar and bowling icon Logan “The Surgeon” Ruby is going to be suited up in the black and red regardless. Many would argue that Logan is in fact the face of Bowling. Hard to argue with him coming off a championship, a red hot week 1, and featuring a signature move unlike anything you have ever seen on a bowling lane. Luckily, Logan was nice enough to lend a moment of his time to answer a few questions for us at the Bowletin.

As mentioned before, The Surgeon came out to a hot week 1 start bowling a 204, 175, and a 211 totaling a 590 series. When asked what he attributed his early success to, Ruby’s first instinct was to highlight his teammates and told us that they have done their best to put him in position to be successful. His humble response is a testament to his focus and commitment to the ultimate goal of winning a championship. Candidly, Logan also mentioned “the low handicap does make me nervous since I’ve set a high bar and [expletive] myself for the rest of league play”. It’s hard to blame him for nerves regarding the handicap, and this could end up being a massive obstacle for the defending champs to overcome.

I would be remiss to not ask Logan about competing directly against his own brother Wes “Rubes” Ruby on wednesday. When asked about the preparation and emotions going into this faceoff, Logan told us  “I'm going to take a deep breath and put in a zyn”. Nothing but business for The Surgeon this wednesday night. As a fan and reporter of the sport, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get to see two brothers compete at the highest level in the peak of their respective primes. The pressure, however, seems to be placed upon the shoulders of older brother Wes. Wes has a chance to upset his younger brother and rip him right out of the spotlight. If you ask this reporter, a loss for Wes could be detrimental and completely emasculating. Either way, emotions will be high and we could have an all time matchup on our hands.

Logan Ruby currently has a never ending bottle rocket up his ass shooting him over the moon into stardom. Already a household name, The Surgeon is inspiring the nation's youth. “Redhead Bowler” was the number one selling Halloween costume at Party City this past October and just recently Logan surpassed John Cena for fulfilling the most wishes ever through the Make a Wish foundation. I wanted to give Logan the opportunity to give one piece of advice to all the boys and girls that want to bowl like him one day. His message to the kids was to “Stay ready. You never know when you’re going to have to step up and be the guy. Preparation is key”.

This Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Waveland we are going to see who steps up to be the guy.
