Jason Wilkins' Week 1 Recap for Wave F25
Jason Wilkins' Week 1 Recap for Wave F25
January 29th marked the first week of a new season for our esteemed pool of bowlers. We saw a pretty drastic shakeup in personnel among our 3 teams but it seems the results remain stagnant. Let’s take a dive and see what’s new with each squad.
Our defending champs Bowls Deeps are featuring almost the same roster as last year minus a substitution in the six spot. It seems we’ve seen the last of Lord Buttcheeks for now but they’ve welcomed newcomer Shiesty to take his place. As far as the performance on the lane goes, Bowls Deep made a statement to their new league mates to put them all on notice. Our title holders cruised to a 7-0 victory over Glory Bowls on the broad shoulders of The Surgeon and his 590 series. Without a doubt this sets The Surgeon up to make a run at this seasons coveted Tom Casey MVP award. The future isn’t entirely bright for this BD roster with injuries looming. Next week is the big matchup vs The Zynfadels and they’ll be missing The General and Ace; two pillars of success for this squad.
The Rolling Stones may prove to be a media nightmare while the dust settles. From the outside looking in, it appears this team is amidst a power struggle. If you ask this reporter, things will remain rocky until a leader emerges. It’s not all gloom and doom for the Stones as they added free agent Oren who after a solid week 1 may be looking to propel the stones to competitive status. Between Oren and Alley Rat, this team can seriously rattle some cages. If this roster can mesh and find some consistency, we could see a 3 team fight for the championship this season.
Last but certainly not least let’s take a look at the Zynfadels. This is a franchise that knows how to retain talent and keep them happy. The Zynfadels were a squeaky clean well oiled machine all night for week one behind the younger brother of The Surgeon. They’re marching confidently into their matchup with Bowls Deep next week. Sadly, not everything is rainbows and butterflies for the Zyns. There is quiet chatter among the league of potential tampering to weaken the Bowls Deep roster. No statement has been made by any member of the squad on this matter so look for an investigation to be launched prior to next weeks match of the night.
From what we’ve seen in just one short week, it seems our teams have all locked in and took the necessary means this offseason to compete for a championship.
